ELK

We spent the entire day grinding and packaging the elk meat our mighty hunter the daddy shot a few weekends ago. Here are a few thoughts I had during the day...The Bull Elk lets all within earshot know how big strong and amazing he is with his beautiful bugle, only to be answered by the cow's call (not nearly as amazing and beautiful as the bull bugle). With her call she lets him know that she does indeed think he is big strong and amazing. Now if only the human marriage had a way of doing this...or do we? How is my bull bugling for my affection… and more importantly am I calling back or is he left to wonder aimlessly through a dense patch of trees hoping to come across a clearcut at the same time I do? Humm something for me to work on.
We have a picture of a Bull Elk standing in the snow looking over a Cow Elk sitting safely at his feet. Recently I taped a note to this picture stating "and they lived mostly happily ever after!"
Just a thought on elk.
